
I remember my instructor had emphasized of correct sounds from my body. Correct sound means focused voice. I am so afraid of continue this vocal practice from now on. If you get used bad habit of making voice, it is not easy to correct later. You will need professional vocal coach to watch and correct each individual sounds. Even professional vocalists does not recognize when they are make mistakes on the stage, as like professional golfers making mistakes without their own notice. That's why they need the coach even though they are good player.
Anyhow, I am trying remembering how to practice to make focused voice with easy scaling.
Let's start with one note C (Do)~~~~C(Do)~~~~, with sounds of M~~i~~a~~~~
Most of the beginner makes focused voice with M sound, however, as soon as it goes to Ah sound, the focused sound M usually change to unfocused voice, and the sound are spreading out. That's very normal to every beginner. But what we are trying to do is that make focused voice even with Ah sounds. Stay same focused sound in your nose even with Ah~ sound. Of course your posture and breathing method have to carry on same time. With this practice you will fell what is the focused voice later. Focused voice is that sounds float with breath without spreading out. This sound can reach to the end of the concert hall with pianissimo voice.
If above writings are understandable, go on with other note with easy scale. Raise half note at a time to your reachable note and lower to your reachable low note.
Do~Re~Mi~Fa~Sol~Pa~Mi~Re~Do~~
mi~i~i~i~a~a~a~a~a~~
Then change to
hee~ee~ee~ee~a~a~a~a~a
Next scale
Do~Mi~Sol~Do~~~~Do~Sol~Mi~Do~~~~ with one breath.
mi~~i~~i~~ah~~~~ah~~ah~~ah~~ah~~
Then change to
hee~ee~ee~ah~~~~ah~ah~ah~ah~~~~
Never make sounds if your posture and breath in is not ready!!!
Next scale
Do~Re~Mi~Pa ~Sol~Fa~Mi~Re~Do~Mi~So~Mi~Do~~~~
With mi-a, and hee-a sounds.
Then, try above scale with staccato also.
Try not to forget 1. posture 2, breath in deep and support, 3 then make a voice.
This will make good 30 minute exercise everyday.
