기원전 6세기, 바빌로니아의 느브가트네자르에 의해 잡힌 포로였다가
하나님의 역사하심에 유대땅으로 귀향하게 되는 유다민족....
이사야는 구약에서 하나님의 백성이 바빌론에서 귀향하는 것을
‘제2의 Exodus’로 표현했다. 

에굽으로 부터의 탈출과 함께 바빌론 탈출은 이스라엘 민족으로 하여금
하나님의 구원의 역사를 체험케한 결정적 사건이었다.

바빌론 포로로 있으면서도 믿음의 손을 놓지않고 하나님께 의지하는
이스라엘 민족의 믿음이 잘 나타난 By the Rivers of Babylon:

(바빌론 포로 당시), "우리는 바빌론 강가에서 시온(이스라엘)을
그리며 울곤 했습니다. 바빌론으로 부터 탈출케 하여주실 하나님,
이제 새로운 땅에서 우리가 어떻게 우리의 입과 마음으로 하나님을
찬양해야 하는지를 알려 주시고, 하나님께 찬양 드리기를 원합니다"
라는 내용의 노래.
